Social opportunities abound at Vision Australia
One of Vision Australia’s key priorities is to ensure people who are blind or have low vision have meaningful and active participation in society.
In Gippsland, Vision Australia offers a range of programs that enables their clients to connect with others, remove social isolation and participate fully in the community.
Their clients tell them how much they enjoy the many activities on offer through Vision Australia’s Recreation Program in Gippsland.
From pottery and basket work, to local excursions and events, their clients can choose to participate in the activities that interest them.
Having worked at Vision Australia for many years, Sandra Fitzpatrick has recently taken over the management of the Recreation Program in Warragul.
“I’m really enjoying my new role. It’s so rewarding to see our clients having a go at activities they might not normally try if they were on their own.
“We’ve been running the program for many years and the friendships that are made really change lives for the better.
“It’s actually more of a community than a program, everyone feels welcome,” says Sandra.
As well as activity-based programs, Vision Australia offers a number of services that give people of all ages who are blind or have low vision the opportunity to connect with others and participate in their community.
If you or anyone you know is blind or has low vision, please contact Vision Australia.
Whether it’s support with education, employment, living an independent life or feeling included in their community, Vision Australia offers a full range of innovations and services across all of Gippsland.
