The Bros are back in town

-

After a sold-out show in Drouin last year, The Howie Bros and Wayne Horsburgh return to Drouin Anglican Church Hall for an afternoon concert on Thursday, November 24 at 2pm.

The afternoon will feature lots of vocal harmony, singalongs, many popular songs, yodelling, lots of laughs, and different instruments including 12-string guitar, ukulele, mandolin and piano accordion.

Identical twins Graeme and John Howie grew up on a Brandy Creek Road dairy farm and attended Warragul North Primary School.

Their first performance as singers, at seven years of age, was at the Warragul Presbyterian Church, where they remember singing, in harmony, What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

It was about this time that they started singing lessons with June Orchard at Albert Fox's music studio in Warragul and piano lessons with Irene Warragul.

The pair became secondary school classroom music teachers for about 30 years. John even taught Kylie Minogue at Camberwell High School.

The Howie Bros have recorded 41 albums, the latest being a 2 CD Set "Sentimental Favourites", where they have collaborated with good friend Wayne Horsburgh to sing 40 of their favourite Howells in songs. Joining them in Drouin is Wayne Horsburgh, Australia's top male yodeller and a wonderful singer similar in style to Frank Ifield, Slim Whitman and Marty Robbins.

The Drouin Anglican Church Hall concert will run from 2pm-3.30pm.

Tickets are $15 and available at the door.

There will be an opportunity for a cuppa and biscuit half way through the show.
