Hard hitting Buln score

- By Sam Laffy

Division 3

Buln Buln (6-230) def. Drouin (6-209): A series of hard-hitting efforts saw Buln Buln post a tight 21-run win over Drouin, with the Lyrebirds superior boundary-hitting the difference between the two sides.

Batting first, the likes of Leigh Cook (53), Mitchell Jolly (44) and James Davidson (72) peppered the boundaries at regular intervals to push the total upwards of 200, and with 6-230 on the board it was always going to be a tough chase for Drouin.

The Hawks put up a good fight, but fell just short of what was required, posting 6-209 in reply.

Pallot propels Bankers

Ellinbank (2-158) def. Western Park (9155):

Chris Pallot’s sensational all-round efforts propelled Ellinbank to an eightwicket win over Western Park – with the Bankers captain leading the way with both bat and ball.

After Daniel Hilton launched an onslaught opening up – belting 11 boundaries in his knock of 55 – the Warriors struggled to build on that platform.

The middle order contributed little as Pallot’s haul of 4-17 entirely disrupted their momentum. Raman Gautum (a 31-ball 20) did his best to boost the tally, but their eventual total of 155 wasn’t enough.

Pallot overcame the early loss of Nathan Van Steensel to compile a mature 79*, the knock carrying Ellinbank to victory in the 39th over.

Berry launches salvo

Jindivick (150) def. Iona (141): Ian Berry launched a one-man salvo with the bat to lift Jindivick to a narrow win over Iona, with the all-rounder contributing an unbeaten 96 out of their eventual total of 150.

With just one other team-mate making it to double figures, Berry took it upon himself to lead the Jumping Jacks reply, and it was his 20-run last wicket stand with Nick Bagnall that shattered the Swamp Tigers’ hopes of claiming victory.

Luke Ferguson (3-33) and Mick Taylor (3-52) did their best to fight back, but against the batting exploits of Berry there was little they could do.

Crows ease to win

Longwarry (6-154) def. Yarragon (149): A combination of handy batting efforts lifted Longwarry to victory over Yarragon in their division three encounter, with Alan Prout (36), Sam Butler (33) and Ben McKenna (33*) helping the Crows ease their way to the six points.

With the benefit of 70 overs to bat, Longwarry were in no hurry, and they used up 62 overs of batting to reach their target, choosing to blunt the Yarragon bowlers instead of belting them.
