Garfield outplayed
Div 2: Garfield lost to Warragul 16/84
Steve Whyte (skip), Alan White, Graeme Burton and Gary Helemore lost to Necip Akarsu’s team 18/32.
Garfield trailed 6/14 on the seventh but kept trying and got within five just before smoko. They were outplayed from there.
Tom Cleary (skip), Shane Oliver, Ron Saunders and Les Pumphrey lost to B Clappers’ team 26/29.
Scores were level on the eighth at 10/10 but Garfield lost two fours and went in to the break down 12/15. Both teams won three ends each just after the break but Garfield still trailed by two on the 17th. It was a tight game till the end with Garfield winning three ends to Warragul’s five.
Peter Lieshout (skip), Bob Clarke, Jim Power and Rod James lost to D. Smith’s team 16/24.
Garfield led 4/3 on the fifth but Warragul won the next five ends to lead 13/5 at smoko. Garfield kept trying winning seven ends after smoko to be down16/21 on the 23rd Warragul won the last two ends.
Steve Bassed (skip), Gary Payne, Ray Biffin and Stu Gemmill lost to J. Moyle’s team 24/31.
Scores were level on the fifth and the seventh but Warragul started to draw away and led 15/8 on the 11th. Both teams won seven ends after smoko. Garfield got a seven on the 18th but Warragul had too big a lead. Div 5: Garfield lost to Morwell 63/70. Bob Lamport (skip), Don Knight, Pete Smith and Rod Hackett won 33/14.
Garfield went to the break leading 17/1 and won the first two after smoko to lead 22/1. Morwell picked up after smoko but Garfield kept going for a great win.
Damian Brick (skip), Adrian Helmuth, Jill Rouse and Bob Hope lost to D. Medew’s team 11/37.
Morwell went in at the break up 17/3. Garfield tried hard and had shots at times but could only win five ends after the break.
Wes Goodman (skip), G. Moxey, Dean Humphreys and Cliff Stephens drew with B. Harle’s team 19/19.
Morwell led 7/6 at the break and got a four on the 12th to be up 11/6. Garfield won the next two ends and the game was level on the 14th and 21st. both teams won two ends from there. It was a great game by both teams.
Div 5: Garfield defeated Trafalgar 44/41.
Judy Pocklington (skip), Lex Taylor, Joe Deane and Keith Sainsbery won 23/20.
Garfield led 8/2 on the fifth and went in at the break 12/7. Trafalgar won the first two ends after smoko to get within two shots. It was a tight game to the end with Garfield winning seven ends to Trafalgar’s five.

Garfield went in at the break down 7/9 and trailed 11/14 on the 18th but got nine shots in next four ends to lead 20/14 on the 22nd but lost seven in the next two to be down 20/21. Garfield was four shots down in the head before skip Isabel put in a great bowl to get the draw.
