Under 16

Drouin v Garfield-Tynong Sixth-placed Drouin elected to bat first and got off to a solid start with a 47 run partnership through Noah Jarred (16) and Bailey Osseweyer (21).

From there onwards they were able to post a very competitive total of 5/178 off their 40 overs.

Korey Carrison top scored with 48 batting at first drop, while Ben Giles (19 not out) and Harrison Furwood (21) put on a 45 for the fifth wicket partnership with the latter ran out on the last ball.

For Garfield-Tynong Alphy Hosie (2/19) and Matthew Telford (2/25) were their best bowlers at the end of the day.

Garfield-Tynong will need to bat well. In their favour is that Drouin have leaked the most runs against this year so far.

Jindivick/Neerim Hallora/Ellinbank

South based team Hallora/Ellinbank won the toss and batted as per usual.

Opener Caleb Serong has once again come through the game retired not out with elegant 58. Sam Pratt at first drop made a solid 21, while Will Gown at second drop chipped in with 17.

Tynan North was not out 27 with Jai Newcombe run out for 15 for his first score below 50 this year in under 16s.

Hallora/Ellinbank ended the day with 4/156cc and should continue on their winning way against the North zoned Jindivick/Neerim team, who were well served by Justin Locket 1/15, Heath Darcy 1/22 and Cody McCraw 1/10 on the day.

Warragul v Bunyip v

Bunyip went against the norm by electing to make third placed Warragul bat first, and what a choice it was with Bunyip boys bowling Warragul out for 29 from 19.2 overs.

Best bats were third drop Cooper Bagnara and opener Daniel Whitten.

In reply Bunyip are well in front with 4/96 from 19 overs with Liam Giliam picking up three wickets for 29 runs.

Bunyip’s player scores were not available at time of going to print.

Jake Dean and Brayden Notman both made 17.

Hallora’s 3/185 against bottom side Bunyip should prove too much.

Lachlan Howard (1/25) and Kenny Begg (1/22) were the only bowlers to get a wicket. Garfield/Tynong v Drouin Gold This game sits in the balance with Drouin Gold making 4/89cc off their 40 overs after being three for eight.

For Garfield-Tynong J Zaccari was by far the best with ball taking 3/1 with Jet Pickering getting 1/6 Jindivick v Neerim District Jindivick batting first making 3/141 and have put themselves in the box seat.

This was mainly due to opener Riley Fell (38 not out), Rhys Galvin (37 not out) and were greatly assisted with 54 extras as well.

For Neerim District Lachlan Smith, Jasper Tyler and Bailey Randall all took a wicket each. Buln Buln v Yarragon Yarragon choose to bat first and after 40 overs made 8/72 with Nathan Mazza top scoring with 12 not out and Gaige White getting 10.

Alistair Hood was Buln Buln’s only multiple wicket taker with 2/16, while Lachlan Axford took a catch and assisted in two run outs.

Jack McDonald top scored with 29 at number five with Liam Fennell (19) and Matt Roberts (14 not out) chipping in for the Parkers.

Joe Pullen took 2/12 with five others taking one a piece and certainly now sees this match sitting at 50/50 chance each.

Drouin Maroon Ellinbank/Warragul

Drouin Maroon put Ellinbank/Warragul into bat first and are sitting in a good spot after restricting them to 4/88.
