Proposed land sale

-

Two small sections of council owned land in Kent St may be sold to adjoining unit owners.

A report to council said there were two small sections of council owned land behind units in Kent St.

The two land parcels are 67 square metres and 44 square metres and are valued at $10,000 and $6500 respectively.

Officers said both allotments essentially form the back yard of each unit.

“The council land has been fenced into each unit, we assume, since the units were constructed.

A similar allotment between the two units was previously sold and consolidated into unit three.

“Although sale to the owners of the other abutting properties is possible, this would have a significant impact for the amenity of both unit owners.

“If sold, each property owner will be required to consolidate the small allotment into their current title,” the report said.

Cr Michael Leaney said the blocks were very small.

He said this would formalise an arrangement that had been going for 30 years.

Cr Mikaela Power agreed, saying it would tidy up the arrangement and give the owners more certainty.

Council will advertise its intention to sell the two lots and consider submissions before proceeding with the sales.
