Tetoora Road celebrates

-

The Tetoora Road community celebrated Christmas with their annual Christmas tree last weekend.

Community centre president Silvia Pongracic said about 50 people enjoyed an evening of craft activities, cricket matches, games and, of course, a visit from Father Christmas.

“It’s terrific to see the community getting together at Christmas time,” said.

“Neighbours taking time out of a busy farming schedule to touch base with each other, and for the children to be immersed in the joy of Christmas with local friends.”

Local residents Lydia Mofakhami and Tim Close organised the Christmas based activities

With no local primary school at Tetoora Road, Ms Pongracic said the local children don’t have many opportunities to spend time together, as they attend four different primary schools and at least two secondary colleges in Warragul and surrounds.

“Our neighbours are who we go to in times of need, so building strong relationships is a key aspect of the Tetoora Road Community Centre.”

The centre hosts several annual activities, plus regular dances throughout the year, and children’s board game afternoons.

Yoga, walking and exercise classes are also being held at the hall to promote community health and well-being.

Ms Pongracic said residents were lucky to belong to a supportive and engaged community at Tetoora Road.

“I might be a little biased but it’s the best place to live in the Baw Baw Shire!”
