Sounds of summer soul

The Lyrebird Arts Council has released the lineup for its flagship event, the Summer of Soul at Mossvale Park on Saturday January 7.

American band Lake Street Dive (one of the hits of Meeniyan) closes out the day with their warm, soulful pop.

Before that, music lovers can enjoy The Cat Empire frontman Felix Riebl performing with his band Paper Doors.

The day starts with Gold Street Sound, a motown funk, rock and soul band from Melbourne with heavenly vocals.

Other highlights include African guitar giant Vieux Farka Toure, (“The Hendrix of the Sahara”), GL, featuring the beautiful vocals of Ella Thompson, soul crooner Simon Burke and his band The Meltdown,

rock n soul quintet The Sugarcanes and the lush vocal harmonies of seven-piece outfit ‘The Do Yo Thangs’.

Summer of Soul has been a stress-free family-friendly music festival since 2012, set in the leafy amphitheatre of Mossvale Park, between Leongatha and Mirboo North.

BYO food and beverages (no glass), or buy local food, wine and beer on site. Entry is free for under 14s. Parking is free.
