every run against some tight bowling, and they provided similarly tough to score off their bowling to ensure that Drouin would be forced to work hard with bat.

Rhys Fairlie (20) and Julian Wainwright (27) were solid with the bat, but they were unable to really force the issue and the fall of regular wickets saw Drouin slump to 7-89.

However, Blair Weller combined with Wade Crawford in a 28-run stand that reignited the Hawks’ chase, and together they helped Drouin to inch closer to victory.

Dan Savage and Cameron Riley did their to pull off the win for the Titans, snaring three and four wickets respectively but Noah Jarred and Crawford combined to carry Drouin over the line late in the day, the Hawks clinching the win with just a few balls to spare.

Phillips chase leads

Hallora (197) def. Warragul (6-141):

A half-century to veteran Simon Phillips has helped Hallora to overcome a dogged Warragul line-up, with his knock of 52 a crucial contribution.

With Dave McMahon (25) and Grant Duncan (25) back in the pavilion with the score 5-77 the match was well and truly in the balance, and the likes of Cameron Lyon (who snared 3-38 for the day) and Tim Whitten (2-26 from seven) were making the most of the conditions to trouble the Kangaroos batsmen.

Phillips is most well-known for his exploits with the ball, but he was able to strike several lusty blows and together with Will Gown (who made 36) the pair took Hallora safely past Warragul’s total of 141.

The pair continued the attack after reaching victory, and eventually carried their side through to 197 before they were dismissed late in the day.

Stags fall short

Bunyip (145) def. Neerim District (126):

A truly impressive bowling performance from Bunyip was enough for them to overcome a gritty chase from Neerim District, with the Stags simply unable to find the acceleration needed to successfully chase down the Bulls’ target.

Warren Darcy compiled 22 opening up, and Kidman Johnstone added 24 from number three to carry Neerim through to 1-58 early in their reply, but their dismissals left too much for the middle and lower order to do.

Dan Clebney delivered an exceptional spell of 4-41 from 26 overs and his consistent line and length ensured that the Neerim batsmen were never able to counter-attack against the Bunyip bowlers.

Tyler McMillan’s brilliant season continued with a haul of 4-20 from 16.4 overs and the pair successfully bundled the Stags out for 126 in the 70th over.

The win sees Bunyip maintain their spot in second on the table, holding a big lead 15-point lead over the third placed Western Park.
