Warriors take full toll as Warragul miss star bat

Bulls in fine form

Bunyip (4-128) def. Hallora (9-126) A stunning unbeaten knock of 66 to Tyler McMillan has provided the impetus for Bunyip to continue their exceptional season, with the Bulls overcoming a gallant Hallora by six wickets in their round nine clash.

Having bowled with great heart in the oppressive conditions to restrict the Kangaroos to just 9126, the chase for Bunyip proved relatively straight forward once McMillan settled at the crease.

His half-century – his second of the summer – ensured that there was little Hallora could do to claim victory, despite two early wickets being claimed by Aidan Phillips and Clint Hickford.

Tyler’s work followed up an exceptional spell of bowling from Sam McMillan – whose spell of 112 from eight overs well and truly took the wind out of the Halloran sails – and with Dan Clebney (2-21 from eight) and James McKellar (2-17 off three) also in fine form with the white ball, Bunyip were always in the box seat.

Jinidvick’s first loss

Garfield-Tynong (6-215) def. Jindivick (198) In one of the upsets of the season to date, Garfield-Tynong have handed former ladder leaders Jindivick their first loss of the summer, with a Tate Burgmann century proving too much for the Jumping Jacks to overcome.

The star batsmen opened the innings and remained unbeaten on exactly 100 by the end of the Titans’ 40 overs; his knock a study in picking the right delivery to punish. Eighty of his 100 runs came in boundaries, with Burgmann mixing resolute defence with crunching blows to the fence.

He received valuable support from Josh Horsburgh (who made 34) and carried the score through to 6-215.

In reply, Caleb Boswell made a superb 61 opening up, and together with Harry Moore (35) and Shannon Mitchell (30) took the Jumping Jacks at one stage to 5-190.

However, Alphy Hosie (4-20) and Glenn Miller (2-20) proved too good for the Jindivick lower order, and a stunning collapse of 5-8 saw the Jumping Jacks slump to be 198 all out.
