Buln pull off frenetic chase

Iona slump to loss

Jindivick (3-244) def. Iona (211) Despite a promising batting effort Iona slumped to another loss at the weekend, with their side unable to chase down the sizable target set by Jindivick.

Having been sent into the field there was little that the Swamp Tigers bowlers could do stem the onslaught from the Jumping Jacks batsmen, as Kyan Boadle belted 60 at the top of the order, and Matt Cheshire launched his way an unbeaten 84 to boost the Jindivick total to 3-244 from their 40 overs.

In reply, Michael Neilson and Mick Taylor struck classy half-centuries and Tom McCormack chimed in with 56 down the order, but the target was simply too much and Iona were dismissed for 211 in the 38th over.

Nick Bagnall snared 4-54 to be the pick of the bowlers.

Ellinbank on top

Ellinbank (9-212) def. Western Park (165): Lusty hitting from Matthew Barrand has seen Ellinbank maintain their standing at the top of the division three table following the weekend’s action, as the Bankers took home a 47-run win over Western Park.

Coming to the wicket with the innings poised at 396 from 25 overs, Barrand’s knock of 67 (which contained five huge sixes) helped carry his side to 9-212, a total that proved too much for an undermanned Western Park batting line-up.

Josh Hickman was the pick of the bowlers – snaring 3-17 from his eight – but the change bowlers couldn’t fully support his efforts.

In reply, Stephen Briggs blasted 63 and Rich Kelly impressed in his first hit of the season, but the Warriors could only total 165 in reply – with Matt Guy’s haul of 2-25 the best for Ellinbank.
