hiccups from Ellinbank.

Van Steensel made a watchful 34, while Farthing belted a brisk 64 and their efforts helped their side over the line in the 35th over.

Hawks chase down

Drouin (4-192) def. Western Park (4189):

Chris Gardiner’s stunning unbeaten 80 helped Drouin successfully chase down a challenging total set by Western Park, belting boundary after boundary following a tight start to the run-chase.

Gardiner strode to the crease just before drinks with the score 2-60 and wasted little time in launching several booming drives. He gathered momentum alongside opener Regan Hodge (who made 37) and despite the best efforts of Stephen Briggs (1-12 from 8) and Sam Laffy (1-24 off 8) the Hawks reached their target in the 37th over.

Earlier in the day, superb half-centuries to Adam Johnson and Jon Neilson helped the Warriors to 4-189. Buln (2-92) def. Longwarry (90): Buln consolidated their position in the top two in division three thanks to a crushing eight-wicket win over Longwarry; with the Lyrebirds again led with the willow by Ben O’Neill.

With just 90 to chase, O’Neill wasted little time in helping Buln over the line, smashing an unbeaten 68 that helped the run-chase be finished in just 13 overs.

There was little that the Crows bowlers could do to stem the flow of runs as they slumped to another loss.

Earlier in the day, Matt Gooden snared 6-14 to skittle Longwarry in another excellent spell of swing bowling – triggering a collapse of 5-12 that ended the Crows’ innings in the 25th over.
