Yarragon (4-296) def. Iona (5-291): Three times in the past two seasons, John Allsop has strode to the wicket against Iona, and three times he has blasted incredible centuries to carry his side to victory.
At the weekend, the gentle giant struck a stunning 155 as the Panthers launched another insane run-chase, following in the footsteps of their division one counterparts last weekend as they hunted down Iona’s total of 5-291.
With Malacarne (59) and Regester (35) supporting him, Allsop was unstoppable, sending the ball over the fence 10 times as he demoralised the Iona bowlers.
Timing the chase to perfection Allsop was finally dismissed in the 40th over but by then the scores were tied and Jake Green was able to hit the winning runs.
Allsop’s knock completely overshadowed the efforts of Luke Ferguson, who smashed 109 to lift the Swamp Tigers to a seemingly impregnable position earlier in the day.
