Yarragon (4-296) def. Iona (5-291): Three times in the past two seasons, John Allsop has strode to the wicket against Iona, and three times he has blasted incredible centuries to carry his side to victory.

At the weekend, the gentle giant struck a stunning 155 as the Panthers launched another insane run-chase, following in the footsteps of their division one counterpar­ts last weekend as they hunted down Iona’s total of 5-291.

With Malacarne (59) and Regester (35) supporting him, Allsop was unstoppabl­e, sending the ball over the fence 10 times as he demoralise­d the Iona bowlers.

Timing the chase to perfection Allsop was finally dismissed in the 40th over but by then the scores were tied and Jake Green was able to hit the winning runs.

Allsop’s knock completely overshadow­ed the efforts of Luke Ferguson, who smashed 109 to lift the Swamp Tigers to a seemingly impregnabl­e position earlier in the day.

Bankers lead

Ellinbank (3-151) def. Jindivick (147): Ellinbank maintained their lead at the top of the table with comfortabl­e seven-wicket win over Jindivick; with the Bankers ability to score runs again on show.

A five-wicket haul early in the day to Matt Guy had helped to restrict Jindivick to 147 – the Jumping Jacks bowled out off the final ball of the innings – and a 90-run opening stand between Nathan Van Steensel and Matt Farthing ensured that there would be no
