Longwarry’s fighting win

Longwarry came from 28 shots down at the tea break to record a 10-shot win against Drouin in division three on Saturday.

Division three: Longwarry 16/104 defeated Drouin 4/94.

Glenn Pask, Elio Meggetto, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) defeated by D. Tayles’ team 21-30.

Longwarry went into the tea break nine shots down, but picked up after tea to take a one-shot leave. However, Drouin steadied to record a comfortabl­e nine-shot win.

Mark Serong, Lloyd Maisey, Ken White and Russell White (skip) defeated G. Woolstencr­oft’s team 34-17.

Longwarry had a slot start but, with Mark Serong leading well, started to play some good team bowls to come home with a strong 17-shot win to be the King Rink.

Simon Counsel, Judy Eastwell, Hogg Mitchell and Hank Metselaar (skip) lost to C. Jeffrey’s team 22-25.

In a tightly contested game most of the day, Drouin hung on to get over the line by three shots.

Ian Peterson, Grant Pask, Brian Hennessy and Slim Eastwell (skip) defeated Norm Rubenstein’s team 2722.

With Drouin bowling well, Longwarry went into the tea break six shots down. After a pep talk from the skip, Longwarry came out and played some good team bowls to win eight of the last 11 ends and come out fiveshot winners.

Player of the day again went to Ian Peterson. Division six: It was great to see the division six team turn up and play a practice game after the Garfield team forfeited.

It was the veterans, with over 320-years experience, versus the young guns. The result: score card lost.
