Close games for Longwarry

Longwarry Bowling Club had mixed results in two close games on Saturday.

Division three went down to Traralgon by nine shots and division six defeated Trafalgar by two shots.

Division three: Longwarry 4/95 lost to Traralgon 16/104.

Mark Serong, Kevin Campbell, Lloyd Maisey and Russell White (skip) lost to D. Cooper’s team 15/37.

Longwarry tried hard but were well beaten by a far better team on the day.

Ian Peterson, Grant Pask, Brian Hennessy and Ken White (skip) defeated Max Cummins’ team 26/18.

After being down early, Longwarry came out after the break and won six of the last seven ends to record a good eight-shot win.

Simon Counsel, Gerry Wakefield, Hogg Mitchell and Hank Metselaar (skip) defeated Hank DeHommel’s team 29/18.

Longwarry played a good team game to be in control most of the day. They won by 11 shots.

Glenn Pask, Elio Meggetto, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) lost to Reg Davis’ team 25/31.

Longwarry went to the break four shots up. However, they could only manage to win four more ends to lose by six shots.

Division six: Longwarry 8/43 defeated Trafalgar 2/41.

Don Collis, Edward Bluck, John Watts and Eric Peterson (skip) lost to M. Morland’s team 18/22.

In an evenly contested game, Trafalgar won the last three ends to get home by four shots.

Reg Dunn, Graham Sparks, Peter Smethurst and Brian Mason (skip) defeated G. Burt’s team 25/19.

Longwarry, who were well led by Reg Dunn, stayed in control for most of the game to have a good six-shot win.
