Ficifolia features art and music

Art, music, poetry and performing arts are amongst the features of this year’s Drouin Ficifolia Festival.

The 10-day festival opens on Saturday with a wide range of activities on offer.

The annual Ficifolia Art Show is well worth a visit. Original artworks across various mediums will be on show at the Drouin Football Social Rooms from Thursday, February 9 to Sunday, February 12.

This year’s show will feature new categories of photograph­y and mosaics.

Kids and adults alike will be enthralled by outdoor theatre production “Wind in the Willows” at Civic Park in Drouin on Sunday.

Join Mr Toad, Ratty, Mole and all their friends as Kenneth Grahame’s immortal story of life on the riverbank comes to life in a presentati­on by the Australian Shakespear­e Company.

There will be two shows provided free of charge on 10am and 4pm.

Bookings are essential by calling the West Gippsland Arts Centre on 5624 2456.

Music for all the family will be on offer across three special events.

The Baw Baw Singers will present a free and fun night of singing at the Drouin Anglican Church Hall on Monday from 6.45pm.

Drouin Senior Citizens Centre will host a twilight family concert on Thursday, February 9 starting at 6.30pm. Entry fees apply.

Local talent will be showcased in free event “Music for the People” at the Keith Pretty Soundshell on Sunday, February 12 from 3.30pm.

Poetry will again inspire with two events on offer.

The Baw Baw Poetry Group will host its popular annual poetry night on Friday, February 10 at the Old Drouin Butter Factory from 6.30pm. The cost to attend is $15. In addition, the Demented Echidna Poets Collective invites poets and lovers of poetry to enjoy a lazy arvo at Middels on Sunday from 2pm. Entry is free.
