Drouin 6/335 (cc) vs. Garfield/Tynong Red ball cricket returned at the weekend with many players capitalising on the extra time in the middle and teams posting big totals.

This was certainly the case at the Drouin Recreation Reserve where young Hawks opener Matthew Lynn played the innings of his career.

Combining aggressive stroke play and rock solid defence whilst displaying immense concentration, Lynn batted through the entire 70 overs to finish the day with a sensational 159 not out.

Andrew Harrison was unlucky not to record a century after sharing a 199-run fourth wicket partnership with Lynn and being dismissed for 98.

Andrew Downie (24) helped carry the score past 300 as the home side set an imposing total of 355.

Ben Stewart accelerated the scoring with an aggressive 49 (four 4s and four sixes) supporting McConnell (109) as he too reached a maiden ton.

Regular wickets stemmed the flow of runs to see the home side dismissed for 342 with nine overs of play remaining.

Part-time bowlers Tom Parker (3/56) and David Tyler (2/44) were the best of the bowlers.

In reply the Stags find themselves already three down going into day two, Davis McConnell fired up with the new ball snaring 2/9 off five overs with Harry McConnell claiming one scalp at the other end.

With a big score on the board and three early wickets the Bulls will be
