New intersection for Waterford Rise estate
Traffic delays along Princes Way west of Warragul may continue this week while contractors complete another crossing point associated with new intersection works.
Fulton Hogan is undertaking the works on behalf of Baw Baw Developments, developers of the Waterford Rise Estate.
The works are to develop a new T intersection in Princes Way for another entry point into the residential estate.
Site manager Gavin Nicholson said the works were forecast to be completed by the end of March.
“We have the bulk of the crossings work. There is one more to do this week,” he said.
After that, he said contractors would be undertaking road widening works which would not affect the existing carriageways.
Mr Nicholson said message boards alerting motorists to the planned works and delays had been on site for two months.
Yesterday morning, after heavy rain on Sunday night, a small section of the road was closed.
Mr Nicholson said when he arrived at the site there were two traffic police directing traffic.
Mr Nicholson said the road had not washed away as some reports indicated. He said a pot hole had formed where gravel had washed away from an area where pipe crossing works were undertaken on Saturday.
Mr Nicholson said contractors were unable to put the bitumen seal on the surface on Saturday so after Sunday’s rain, the tope 25mm of the road surface became saturated and a section of the gravel washed away.
He said it was a small section on the outer wheel path of the west bound lane.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for a couple of hours while contractors fixed the problem. The bitumen seal was undertaken yesterday.
