Lanza at Tetoora Road

-

The incredible life story and absolute hits of tenor Mario Lanza will be performed at the Tetoora Road Hall on Friday, February 17 at 11am.

The “Lanza Sings Again” performance, celebrating the man once dubbed “the greatest tenor in the world”, is the first of the West Gippsland Arts Centre’s 2017 Daylight Entertainment season which will tour local communities.

Amongst the alternative locations, due to proposed West Gippsland Arts Centre refurbishment works, are Labertouche, Poowong East, Narracan, Jindivick and Darnum.

This new production from Promac Australia stars tenor Roy Best, international soprano Alison Jones, narrator Chris McKenna and musical director Len Vorster on piano.

Songs like “Be My Love”, “Because You’re Mine”, “La Donna E Mobile” and “Strangers in Paradise” are just some of the hits that will feature.

For this show, the right voices are required.

Roy Best will sing all songs in Lanza’s original keys. Roy has had an incredible rise in Australian show business, from being a finalist in ABC TV's “Opportunity Oz” to recordings with ABC Classics, playing principal roles with The Victorian Opera and currently as an ongoing guest artist with the Australian Pops Orchestra.

Alison Jones will play Kathryn Grayson, Lanza’s preferred soprano. The pair also starred in many films.

Alison has had a stellar career and is popular in Europe and the UK. She played leading roles with The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company in the Savoy Theatre in London, an honour rarely bestowed on an Australian. Since settling back in Australia, Alison has played leading roles for The Victorian Opera and The Melbourne Opera companies.

Tickets to “Lanza Sings Again” are $20 for adults, $18 for concession and $15 for members, under 18s and groups.
