Women’s Trafalgar women kicked off the 2017 season with a stableford event in beautiful sunny conditions.

Fourteen players took to the course for the 18-hole event, while 10 players fronted the starter for the nine-hole events.

This week’s competitio­n is stableford nine holes in and nine holes out, with Ann Outhred and Sue Rogers starting while match committee are checking.

Tee-off time will be 9.30am for people wanting to play in the ninehole competitio­n.

Richard Perry continued on with his red hot form by winning the A grade event on Thursday with a score of 42 points, while Rod McGlone won the C grade event with a score of 44 points.

Warragul visitor Les Madden scored a huge 26 points on the front nine in his final score of 42 points to take out the B grade event.

A total of 24 players out of the field of 51 were able to play to their handicap or better.

Next week is a game of single stableford, which includes another qualifying round of the 2017 Top Gun event with the final due to be played on Saturday February 25.

The current minimum qualifying score for the men’s field is 41 points, while for the women’s it is 36 points.

It’s not too late to enter if you haven’t already done so.

In two weeks’ time it is a three person guest ambrose day. Members are reminded to organise their guest for event eligibilit­y. Willem Muller shot a very nice 78 off the stick to register a 65 nett to comfortabl­y take out A grade.

In B grade, the winner was Leigh Gordon who had an exceptiona­l 64 nett off his 15 handicap.

Ryan Hammond managed the best scratch score for the day with a 71.

A score of 67 nett on a countback was needed for a ball:

Pat Alexander shot a beautiful 69 nett to take out the women’s section for the day.

On Wednesday, 99 players played a stroke event and the February midweek medal.

The winner of the medal and A grade was junior member Marcus Foote. Foote had an impressive 63 nett off a seven handicap.

B grades’ winner saw Garry Burns continue with some nice current form to post a 66 nett off his 15 handicap.

In C grade, Rob Woodward had a stunning 63 nett off his 21 handicap to take the honours.

A score of 68 nett on a countback was good enough to get a ball:

Drouin’s division two and three handicap pennant teams begun their seasons at Moe on Sunday.

Handicap two played out a nailbiting draw against Traralgon, 2.5 games each, while handicap three narrowly went down 3/2 against Mirboo North.

Drouin’s other three teams will kick start their season next week.

Tomorrow and Saturdays events will be a single person stableford.

Women’s

Tuesday was opening day for 2017 at Drouin.

The day was kicked off with the finals of the Summer match-play being played. Results: A grade: 1st Wendy Hitchins, 2nd Kay Feaver; B grade: 1st Bev Long, 2nd Pat Alexander.

The club thanked Elaine Howlett for sponsoring the day.

Leanne Pollard picked up the crow’s nest by her shot on the fifth, which finished one just centimetre from the hole.
