Clymo to pull on the Big V

-

Trafalgar Cricket Club player Blair Clymo has been selected in the Victorian under 15 team to play at the Australian National Championships in Brisbane this week.

Blair has represented Gippsland at the state championships for the past two years. Last season in the under 14 matches he made a very impressive 96 runs off 108 balls.

Several Gippslanders are playing with Casey South Melbourne Cricket Club in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition. An invitation to train at CSMCC encouraged Blair to play this season in the competition, which is the Victorian cricket development ground for Sheffield Shield selection.

CSMCC coach Brian Keogh said Blair is a popular player at Casey who has a very promising future in cricket.

Blair praised the playing wickets, outfield and training facilities at Casey Fields.

The experience gained playing for Trafalgar in senior batting roles as a 13year-old last season has led to a solid start at CSMCC this season (more than 250 runs for the season so far) and at the state under 16 championships last month. Playing under age he scored 40 against Metro South East Bayside.

He is also an emerging talent as a leg spinner with a five-wicket haul for only 14 runs playing against Thorpdale in a Central Gippsland A grade game last season.

In Brisbane, he will get the opportunity to place his name high in the order of promising under 15 players around Australia, with players being chosen to be offered placement in academy squads, training under some of the leading coaches and past champions of Australian cricket.
