Motorfest’s big prize pool

-

A prize pool of $18,000 will be up for grabs at Lardner Park Motorfest over the weekend of March 11 and 12.

It will be the 8th year of the highly popular event staged as a major fund-raiser by Drouin Rotary Club.

Chairman of the club’s organising committee Ian Haughton said plenty of big name cars and competitors were again expected to compete and indications through social media are that another bumper crowd is likely.

He said the Lardner Park weekend continued to grow in popularity and is now recognised as a “feeder” event for the Summernats held in Canberra.

Burn-outs, go-towhoa, stampede and show ‘n’ shine will feature on the program with all details available on the website www.motorfest .com.au

There’ll be at least eight volunteers helping on site at all times after the gates open at 9 a.m. on both days.

Mr Haughton said Drouin Rotary and Gippsland Tuff Streeters were being helped by a number of other district service clubs in staging the weekend Motorfest.

These included Rotary clubs of BunyipGarfield, Koo wee rup-Lang Lang and Warragul, Lions clubs from Drouin and Neerim South and many members of the Drouin Men’s Shed.

Mr Haughton said the event was a favourite among car enthusiasts because of its great location at Lardner Park, strong crowds and friendly family atmosphere.

In the seven years it has been held the Lardner Park Motorfest has raised more than $400,000 that has been distributed among a number of district community organisations and to causes supported by Rotary International.
