Chairo students in the swim
Chairo Christian School recently held their annual middle school (years 5 to 8) house swimming and water activities carnival at the Drouin pool.
It was certainly a colourful day, with the house colours of yellow, red, blue and green clearly on display.
In addition to the regular swimming events, there were also water activities that called for individual flair and team work.
The bombing competition attracted plenty of attention, with many students cheering their friends on to make the biggest splash possible!
At the other end of the pool, all sorts of innovative means of propulsion were employed by teams in the foam mat relays.
For some students, the swimming events were the most exciting part of the day, while for others the highlight was the water activities or socialising with friends, or cheering and supporting their team members.
The individual girl champions were: Bianca Zurrer (U11), Chelsea Smith (U12), Natasha Hibma (U13) and Monique Zurrer (Year 8), while the individual boy champions were Harry Coster (U11), Charlie Coster (U12), Beau Harlan (U13) and Alex van Hienen (Year 8).
Bianca Zurrer also broke three records on the day.
Subsequently, the years 4 to 6 swimming team participated in the Tarago District Swimming Carnival at Warragul Leisure Centre, where they competed against students from seven other local primary schools.
Some excellent results were recorded, including first places to Bianca Zurrer, Chelsea Smith and Harry Coster.
The senior school (years 9 to 12) house swimming carnival was also held recently at the Drouin pool. Aylward was the winning house overall, while Flynn took out the coveted House Spirit Award.
Individual champions were: Darcy Lewis and Melody Pedersen (U15), Daniel Coates, Tyler Redwood and Olivia Donders (U16), Jaycob Fisher and Natalie Pedersen (U17) and Jarrod Smith and Brittany Ellis (U21).
