Stags crowned after batting collapse

Division four

Neerim District has staged a truly remarkable comeback to be crowned division four premiers for season 2016/17.

Opting to bat first, the Stags struggled against the new ball - losing both openers for single digit scores.

Davin George (16) gave a typically gritty performance, working with Matthew Ward (14) to bring the visitors back on track.

Tom Parker (26) and Toby Bayne (18) kept the scorers busy before a stunning lower order collapse saw Neerim lose 5-6 to be all out for 118.

Steven McGillivray was the game changer for the Jumping Jacks snaring 5/18 off 11 overs. Nicholas Bagnall chimed in with 2-28.

With 21 overs of play remaining, Jindivick made a positive start despite losing Steven Fricke (10) and Kevin Larkman before the close of play. Resuming at 2-39, Steven McGillivray (30) and Nick Hume (18) looked set to carry the Jumping Jacks to a big win when Jamie Gleeson was brought in to the attack.

Gleeson quickly turned the game around with a fantastic nine over spell that would see him finish with 5-7 as the home side lost an unbelievable 8-15 to be all out for just 73.
