Seniors

It was a small field of Seniors competing in their nine-hole event on Thursday.

The winner in the women’s division was Deb Daniel with 17 points.

The runners up were Robyn O’Brien, Marg Cox and Jeanette Phillips each with 16 points, followed up by Lorna Hoskins and Mildred Lyon both with 14 points.

In the men’s division, the winner was Graeme Alexander with 18 points.

The runner up was Graham Dorling with 17 points, followed by Laurie Pyle with 16 points, Jock Granger and Con Norris with 15 points and Max Luck with 14 points. Women

Wednesday was wet for the par event, however numbers were still good with 55 players for 18 holes and 11 women playing nine holes. Margaret Gleeson won the ninehole competitio­n with +1. Nancy Devries was runner up on count back from Sandra Turner, with both finishing square.

Tomorrow’s event is an open day, playing 4BBB stableford.

Equal runners up were the teams called “Cran Paks” and “Vervale”, both in with a score of 114 points.

The best individual A grade score was shot by Steve Humphrys with a 41 point result playing off his mark of 14. Malcolm Hirt did best for C grade with a final score of 43 points playing off his handicap of 21.

A score of 39 points or better was required to get a ball down the line, which was achieved by eight players.

Grant McKay had a great week, firstly by playing in the winning team, then having the best second shot in for A grade, while also winning Thursday’s twilight competitio­n.

A total of 33 players were able to play to their handicap or better for the day.

All members wish both Wally Poulter and John Blair’s wife Sandy all the best after their recent health concerns.

Thursday

A field of 63 had a game on Thursday, which once again was played in nice conditions, even though a prevailing wind made it more difficult for big scores.

Gary Kelly scored best with 41 points to win the B grade event playing off his mark of 16, while Ross Martin continued on with some nice form by winning the A grade event with a score of 36 points.

Graham Thorp won C grade with a score of 40 points, playing off his handicap of 26.

A final score of 36 points or better was needed to win a ball down the line.

Matt Ross eagled the par five 10th by using driver, seven iron, then knocked his put in from twelve feet away.

Next week is the April Monthly Medal which also sees the start of the annual footy golf competitio­n.

The week after that and to commence on the Thursday is the club’s annual tournament, which is played througg until the Sunday when the Mixed Canadian event is to be played.

Thursday night is the final of the 2017 twilight event.
