Wesley hosts Beyond Baroque
Combining awe-inspiring virtuosity, deep feeling and brilliant colours, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra the music that inspired the classical era to Warragul.
From an unrivalled musical pedigree and education, JS Bach’s sons blazed a revolutionary path. With Telemann and others, they were the avant-garde forging a new style.
Rarely heard today, this music will be performed in “Beyond Baroque” at Wesley of Warragul on Saturday, April 29 at 7.30pm.
The program includes CPE Bach’s “Sinfornia in E minor”, Telemann’s “Viola Concerto in G major”, WF Bach’s “Symphony in F major” and JS Bach’s “Concerto for Viola in E flat major”.
These are some of the most exciting and inventive compositions for chamber orchestra and the MCO can’t wait to share them with Warragul residents.
Viola superstar Christopher Moore is one of Australia’s most recognised chamber musicians. His verve and mastery of the instrument has seen him perform all over the world.
Moore performs the great Telemann viola concerto, often thought to be the first solo concerto for the instrument, and a meticulous reconstruction of a lost viola concerto from JS Bach’s own transcriptions.
The MCO is one of Victoria’s leading small orchestras and will bring a unique cultural element to touch the heart.
MCO’s approachable style will make this concert enjoyable for both newcomers and experienced concert goers.
Tickets are $50 for adults, $45 for concession, $42 for WGAC members and groups, and $33 for under 18s.
