Thanks for support
The Baw Baw Shire Study into the use of rural vacant land in the shire has bought forward many points.
The council meeting agenda for last week’s meeting noted the coupling to the full submissions from the public, on the current council minutes on-line. Council is reviewing the data and make decisions on more than 2000 rural vacant blocks for development (housing).
It is very surprising that the Baw Baw Shire would publish these documents with ratepayer names in a public and world accessibility mode on-line. Most of the names have been blacked out, as they should be.
My name is mentioned clearly on-line in a document that is totally incorrect.
I thank the many residents of the shire who have phoned, emailed and personally visited in relation to my raising concerns as drainage, over proliferation of houses in farmland, noise and the protection of rare flora and fauna in Longwarry. Sharon Jordan. Longwarry
A big bouquet to those people who stopped to help me when I fell heavily outside the telephone exchange in Warragul on Thursday morning, after tripping on the uneven footpath. It was uplifting to see so many helping hands.
Bricks to Baw Baw shire for not edging footpaths near parks & trimming shrubs and trees that over hang footpaths in Drouin area.
To Warragul Harness Racing Club on a great Cup Day on Easter Sunday with a terrific emphasis on families. Deserved the large crowd that attended. The town lacks a signature event that puts the name of Warragul in front of a wider audience than locals (the annual show like many other country shows has faded somewhat over the decades). Perhaps the shire council could see it as an opportunity.
To V/Line and the state government for not increasing the number of rail carriages on the always packed 3.15pm Gippsland train from Southern Cross station. It’s always packed from Flinders St station onwards with passengers standing in aisles or sitting on the floor or even eskies - particularly during school terms. Bricks and bouquets is your chance to have your say. All submissions must include a full name and address and daytime contact number, however, contributors will not be identified in print. Please send your submissions to editorial@warragulgazette.com.au or use our website www.thegazette.com.au or our mobile phone: 0458923429.
Thank heavens for “quiet carriages” on V/Line trains now that the State Government has announced it will boost mobile coverage on the MelbourneTraralgon line. Nothing worse than being party to non-stop inane “chats” of others.
