Familiar look at top of ladder

-

Maffra, Leongatha and Traralgon, last year’s top three, are the only undefeated sides after Gippsland League completed round two on Saturday.

Despite losing to Traralgon at the weekend Moe might be the big early improver.

It upset Warragul in round one and led Traralgon by 14 points at half time before the Maroons hit top gear to run out 15-16 to 12-15 winners of a high standard game.

The Lions have a good depth of experienced players plus some highly talented youngsters that are improving week on week.

Maffra was in charge for the four quarters at Bairnsdale running out 18-17 to 8-6 winners, forward stars Dan Bedggood, Mitch Bennett and Darren Sheen each booting three goals.

Sale opened its account for the year at Drouin’s expense.

It was a one-sided game to half time, Drouin managing only one behind as Sale romped to a 76-point lead.

But the Hawks won both of the final two quarters finishing with 11 goals for the game but still losing by 55 points.

Two games in the round were played on Good Friday.

Warragul hit some good form to topple Morwell at Morwell while Leongatha was far too good for Wonthaggi Power.
