Drouin win Twin Town challenge

Drouin defeated Warragul in the second annual Twin Towns Golf Croquet doubles challenge.

Due to an early morning downpour in Drouin, conditions at commenceme­nt of play were on the heavy side.

Representi­ng Drouin were Vicky Rogers (handicap 11), Jim Pitt (12), Wendy Norling (12) Michael Fry (12), Hamish Menzies (six), Edna Menzies (nine), Kathleen Willems (eight) and Heather Bullen (six).

Sunday, single stableford: 1st Brett Wright (22) 38; DTL: Don Smith 37. (eight), Heather Lees (10), Peter Eyre (10), Pat Redden (10), Virgina Shaw (12), Bev Darby (nine), Mary Cornwall (nine) and Jenny Eyre (nine).

Drouin got off to a good start, and at the end of the first half had won six of eight games.

Warragul rallied in the second half and managed to win four more games, but it was not enough to hold on to the trophy.

At the completion of the match, Drouin were the overall winners 10 games 100 hoops to Warragul six games, 85 hoops.
