Extended bus service is great news

-

Great news that the public bus network is being extended in Warragul starting next week

Not everyone is able to travel by their car to the shops in Warragul.

There are elderly persons without a car licence who have to rely on others for transport to the shops.

With the population of Warragul continuing to increase and the building activity on the outskirts of Warragul and Drouin, even car parking in Warragul is becoming congested and extending public transport is certainly a great move

Graham Behrendorff, Warragul small, niche farms – with genuinely intensive, productive, and potentially profitable agricultural uses, which would usually necessitate residential occupation – should be supported. Indeed, a dwelling thereon can be permitted under the discretionary provision of the planning scheme as it stands.

I’ve also acknowledged that there are areas of farm zone land, especially near towns, which are already effectively lost for large-scale farming, and in which, therefore, closer settlement could be encouraged, preferably by rezoning.

Those views are generally consistent with what others told council. Also, although none of the other speakers echoed my objection per se, based on what they said, I doubt whether any of them would agree that dwellings ought to be permitted on all small lots without proper regard to the seriousness of the proposed agricultural use or necessity for an associated dwelling.

This would be the effect of the proposed change, except in restricted areas with highest quality soils.

As is to be expected, there are differing opinions about how best to protect the shire’s prime farmland for agriculturally productive use, but substantial agreement on the need to do so, from my review of all 117 written submissions received by council. John Hart, Warragul God thus logically no value system' has absolutely no logic.

I can guarantee that I do not have to have mythical beliefs to have a strong moral compass and equally good principles.

What gives her the right to judge me because I do not have her beliefs? If that is what believing in a God does to you then I am even happier to be an atheist. Bob Graham, Yarragon Easter does not have a set date, but relies on phases of the moon. That seems Pagan doesn’t it?

The Romans had a set of festivals around that time of year now known as Christmas. They also had a few Gods if my memory serves me correctly.

Gangs and criminals fighting to the death? You obviously haven’t read that magnificent work of fiction called the bible.

The book is full of nice stories amassed by illiterate goat herders and retold over and over hundreds of years later. Totally centered on a tiny section of the planet, which incidentally is not flat.

The values you say people hold dear have come from god over the centuries have not come from god. Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.

Domestic violence, war and bullying all feature prominently in that work of fiction too, and all approved by your god.

Passover, killing children, drowning everyone who rebels, talking snakes, penguins in arks, walking on water, parting the seas, the astounding stories are everywhere.

Funnily enough some people actually believe it.

As for me - I’m sorry I can’t accept your amusing letter and religious rants. I’m in a committed relationship with reality.

Ian Smith, Warragul
