Warragul Camera Club held its 44th national exhibition at the Warragul Downtowner from Friday to Monday with hundreds of people viewing the prints and digital images. The most outstanding image of the exhibition went to Margaret Walton of Doncaster with Alone at Geysir.

The most successful exhibitor was won by Robert Williamson of Baxter.

The best print in the competition was won by Barry Feldman of Geelong with Light Up.

Most successful exhibitor in projected images was Bill Sturgess of Queensland.

Most successful local exhibitor was David Woodcock who also won the most successful Warragul Camera Club exhibitor.

Cathy Tisdale was the most successful Warragul Camera Club first time national print exhibitor.

The Frankston Camera Club had the most print acceptances.

Baw Baw Shire deputy Mikaela Power con gratulated the club on the exhibition and the high standard of prints and digital images on show.

Baw Baw Arts Alliance president Kay Lancashire officially opened the show.

She commented on the phenomenal change that occurred with photography going from black and white prints to modern digital images.

Ms Lancashire said she had a great deal of respect for photographers.

“I use macro photography with my artwork daily, but I have minimal skill.

“What we see here is the artist behind the lens turning a picture into a work of art,” she said.

A highlight of the official opening was the presentation of life membership to Gwen Wolfe.

Gwen has been a member of the club since 1970 and has served in the roles of president, secretary and treasurer.

She also has been a member of the national committee.

President Ruth Burleigh said Gwen had been a valued club member for many years.

Gwen thanked the club for the honour and said the camera club had given her so much over many years.
