Join in the bear hunt
Expect catchy tunes, interactive scenes and hands-on adventure when “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” appears at Latrobe Performing Arts Centre next week.
This wonderful story, adapted from Michael Rosen’s award-winning children’s book, is presented as a 55-minute mini-musical capturing all the fun and frolics of a family out for a walk and on the lookout for a growling bear.
The West Gippsland Arts Centre is holding three shows at Traralgon on Thursday, June 1 at 6.30pm and Friday, June 2 at 10am and 12noon.
The family will march through long swishy grass, wade through thick gloopy mud and even battle a snow storm, before entering a big dark cave where maybe they will finally spot the glinty wet eyes of a slobbering, gigantic bear winking at them through the blackness. There might even be a few special surprises. The hunt is led by a father who is clearly still a child at heart. He is alongside his three children - including a baby strapped to a backpack - plus the family dog. Of course, there is also a very big brown cuddly bear.
This international touring production with an all-Australian cast is produced by Garry Ginivan Attractions. They have been leading producer of “Possum Magic”, “Wombat Stew”, “My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch”, “Stripey – The Emu Chick” and “There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof”.
Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for concession, $12 for members, children 15 years and under and school groups, and $50 for a family of four.
