-

Two Warragul Joey Scouts recently attended the state awards ceremony to be presented with their Joey Scout Promise Challenge Badge – the highest award available to Joey Scouts.

Christopher and Samantha Richards were part of a group of 80 Joey Scouts from across the state who had achieved this award.

Joey Scouts are aged 6-8 years and are the lead in group to Cub Scouts.

“Joeys like to H.O.P. – Help Other People”, Samantha Richards said.

“I helped with Clean Up Australia Day and planting trees with Landcare for my badge”.

“I also helped to plant trees with Landcare and sold lots of raffle tickets for the Scouts”, Chris added.

During the award ceremony, Chief Commission of Scouts Victoria Brendan Watson explained that people who began community service early in their life tended to spend longer than average in the service of their community and committed more time to community acitivities.
