Funds for art and photos

-

An art show in Walhalla and a local club participating in a photographic exhibition have been funded through Baw Baw Shire’s sponsorship program.

Council has agreed to provide $500 to the Walhalla Goldfields Railway for the inaugural Walhalla Railway Art Show.

The Warragul Camera Club also will receive $500 sponsorship for club members to participate in an international photographic exhibition at Ballarat.

Cr Mikaela Power said both these sponsorship requests would enable the groups to be ambassadors for Baw Baw.

A report to council said the Walhalla Goldfields Railway had requested $1000 for its inaugural art show.

Council’s community funding assistance program provides $500 for community events.

WGR’s sponsorship application said the organisation planned to hold a biannual Walhalla Railway Art Show of industrial (train related) and Walhalla art works in the goods shed at the Walhalla station.

The art show will be held during the long weekend in June.

The Warragul Camera Club’s sponsorship will support club members participating in the Ballarat International Foto Biennale Fringe program.

The report to council said club members were providing matching funds to participate in the program.

Photographs from the region and the Baw Baw logo will be on material and displays submitted in the program.
