Over the moon with story time
Warragul Library hosted a reading of Tony Wilson and Laura Wood’s
recently as part of National Simultaneous Story Time.
The event, which was held at libraries, kindergartens and schools, is a highlight of Library and Information Week (May 22-28), which aims to raise the profile of libraries across Australia.
Baw Baw Shire deputy mayor Mikaela Power was special guest reader at Warragul Library, while other Councillors and Baw Baw Shire staff visited other participating libraries, schools and kindergartens to spread the message that reading is fun.
“There’s nothing like a good story, especially when it’s read aloud and shared with others,” West Gippsland Regional Library Corporation board chair Cr Power said.
“The Cow Tripped Over the Moon is about a brave Friesian cow and her quest to jump over the moon with the help of her friends – a perfect story for our rural communities.
“It’s great to think that all around Australia, kids, parents, carers and teachers will be enjoying the magic of storytelling.
“The opportunity, as a Councillor, to connect with the families in our communities in this way is one we look forward to each year.”
There were lots of cow themed activities, and children and adults were encouraged to dress up.
Each child also received a certificate to acknowledge their participation in the event.
