The Magpies squared it up heading into three-quarter-time, setting the match up for an enthralling finish.

A tough tussle ensued in the final term, with the Bombers scoring two goals to one to hold on by six points, 10-11 (71) to 10-5 (65).

Ben Campbell kicked four goals in a performance worthy of best afield honours. Luke Lange, Nicholas Wilcox, Josh Wilcox, Nicholas Murray and Jean Bezzene also helped the Bombers across the line.

Jack Hazendonk and Alex Doria led the scoring for the Magpies with three goals apiece, while Tim Hancock, Mathew Tober, Thomas Wyatt and Rhyse Shortis also helped keep the Magpies in the contest until the very end.

Magpies swoop

Poowong were big winners in the Reserves, scoring 18-9 (117) to 5-2 (32).

The Bombers were competitive early, before the Magpies kicked away.

The Magpies kicked six goals to one in the first term and were never headed, eventually winning 12-7 (79) to 4-7 (31).

William Walker, Kaden Fullerton, Kyle Loveridge, Brian Kelson, Seb Ardley and Ben Clarke helped the Magpies to a strong win.

Blake Cann, Korey Carrison, Blake Davis, Blake Kahan and Mathew Parker helped the Bombers rein it in after facing an early five goal deficit.
