Clear thinking
In answer to Robin Foley ‘God won't go away’ (Gaz 6/6). Where did that tirade come from? What you are talking about is Pascal's belief and opinion, not fact, and it couldn't be further from mine.
Intelligent critical thinking is the crux of this. There is no sin of any kind needed for atheism. It is simply the opposite of theism - a non belief in god rather than a belief in god or gods. Neither myself, nor any other atheist is free of moral constraints. My constraints are the same as most people.
I do not thieve, murder etc. because it is the wrong thing to do, religious or not. This is as silly as saying you would do these things if you weren't religious.
Anyone that feels their religion is liberating and supportive is no different to me feeling liberated and supported without religion. I bear no ill will to anyone who feels that way and I struggle to understand your comment on "Atheism's anger" at the persistence of faith. The only anger is where the religious feel they have a right to impose their way of living on others as in politics and education - same sex marriage, abortion, and particularly euthanasia.
And please don't say we are all created with inbuilt, deep instincts for belief in a creator that is only your opinion and I find it incredibly insulting to be included in your ‘we'. I notice you do only mention Christianity in your tirade.
