Family troupe tradition

-

An urban tale told in the tradition of travelling show biz troupes of old will be seen when “The Crow Family” appears at Neerim Junction Hall on Thursday, July 27 at 7.30pm.

Told by real life family – Maude Davey, David Pidd and their children Alice (17) and Leo (10) - the performance weaves beautiful harmonies together with a remarkable tale that offers insight into the delicate business of being a family.

A woman living in the middle of a city next to a tree smelling of lemons starts this urban tale. In the tree lives a family of crows who are threatened by developers looking to remove the tree to build inner city apartments.

One day, the child of the crows falls from the nest. As night falls and the neighbourhood cats move in, the woman intervenes and her encounter with the crows transforms her life.

The tale is told alongside songs, confessions, tales of famous and infamous families, Alice and Leo’s rule for being a good parent, and servings of cake. It’s about urban scavengers and what we can learn from them, about children growing up and leaving home, and about taking care of the world we share with birds and beasts.

The stage will become the temporary home of the Pidd-Davey family, where beautiful harmonies will be created as a family sings together.

The Crow Family is a gentle, intimate and beautiful music performance event.

Tickets are $32 for adults, $28 for concession, $25 for WGAC members and $20 for youth under 18. A bus service from WGAC is available with bookings essential.
