BOTH JUNIORS WIN

-

Warragul’s 3rds and 4ths were both on the winners list after keen games against Sale.

It was a hugely important win for the Gulls’ fourths that would have been replaced in the “five” by Sale on percentage had it not got the premiership points.

Warragul’s main threat now is Leongatha that sits one win behind it with four rounds to go.

The Gulls steadily built to a 20-point three-quarter time lead against Sale and finished off well with four final term goals to win 9-8 to 3-5.

Caleb Serong, returning from a shoulder injury, kicked five goals in a best on ground performance.

Fraser Phillips got three goals and Adam Clynes one.

In addition to Serong Warragul received good drive from Billy Bundle, Connor Ives, Marcus Pintaudi, Caleb Visser and Matthew Garvey.

A third win for the year saw Warragul thirds rocket up the ladder on percentage – from 10th to 7th.

The Gulls gave up an early lead and then came home the stronger to clinch a hard fought 8-11 to 7-10 win.

Sam Fennell, Aaron Baxter, Matthew Fox, Patrick Mulqueen and Marcus Pintaudi were the better players.

The goals were kicked by Pintaudi, Mulqueen and Fox, with two each, and Fraser Phillips and Mason McGarrity.
