Looking to snare ultimate prize

-

With all Warragul Industrials sides set to participate in the Ellinbank and District Football League finals, the club will be hoping it can snare the ultimate prize on Saturday, September 16.

Having recently disposed of fellow contender Ellinbank to the tune of 48-points, the senior side turns to the business end of the season with renewed confidence.

The win puts the side well and truly in contention for a coveted top two finish that will bring with it the double chance.

The match against ladder leaders NeerimNeerim South on Saturday will allow the team to further measure its credentials in the premiership race.

A strong showing against coach Josh O’Brien’s former side in Buln Buln would set up a key match up against Catani in round 17, which could be key in determining a top two finish.

In their favour the Industrials play the key matches against the Cats and Blues at their home ground Western Park, a venue they play well.

Should they make it that far, that home ground advantage could extend to the grand final.

The Industrials side look far better prepared to push deeper than a semi finals exit this year.

While John Ikupu has added a much-needed tall option and Josh Seri has been added to a dynamic midfield mix including the likes of Tye Holland and Tyson Bale, most of the Industrials’ growth has come from within.

With O’Brien taking the coaching reigns, the release of Shane Brewster has arguably become a far more dangerous prospect this season, he has been damaging both in the midfield and up forward, his three goals instrumental in setting up the victory over the Eagles.

Josh Peterson continues to provide drive as an attacking defender, while Ben Northover is also reliable at that end of the ground.

In a further pleasing aspect for the club, the likes of Joel Paredes, River Ford and Will Gibson have all obtained valuable experience at senior level.

The Reserves team will be out to continue its recent run of success, with the team wellplaced for a top two finish and another crack at a premiership.

The junior teams at Industrials have always been strong, and season 2017 has been no exception.

The under 18s form part of a lead pack of three teams in the seven team competition, with ladder leaders Neerim-Neerim South and third-placed Catani their rivals.

The under 16 team is also in a good position, two games clear at the top of the table.

The club is also hafving a successful season in the netball, with all six teams set to play finals.

Off-field, the club’s lease of the Club Hotel is progressing well, with hopes the refurbishment of the gaming room will be completed within the next fortnight.

Club president Ron Wood said renovations had moved forward, with the ktichen guttered and ready for the installation of a new kitchen
