Old boys of league visit Drouin

This week Drouin had a visit from Dandenong White Star, who the old boys of the state league. Reserves The game was played on a very wet and sticky pitch which, is possibly the worse conditions at Drouin for some time.

The game started with players slipping and sliding and it made playing very hard.

Passing was near impossible and movement more so. At half time Drouin was 3-0 down. The player’s talk was to stand off the Dandenong players and attack loose balls.

Drouin got on top of Dandenong but it finished 3-0. Seniors This game was played on pitch three, which was still very wet but in better condition than the main pitch.

Drouin started the game at a high pace, controllin­g the play moving the ball well.

It is the best they have looked this season, attacking on the left and the right through the middle, but against the run of play from a free kick found themselves 1-0 down.

Drouin just carried on pressing and up step Frank Pitsiano, making it 1-1 after a cracking free kick.

At half time the talk was to keep believing and fill spaces faster and press higher.

In the second half Drouin continued to play some good football, but again boom and 2-1 to Dandenong.

Drouin pressed and up stepped Trey Dekker to make it 2-2, game on.

With five minutes to go a free kick was awarded to Dandenong. The ball was hit 3-2, then Drouin kept hitting the ball at goal but no luck.

Full time score was 3-2 in a great game for the neutral.

Meanwhile, the Bunyip Strikers and Warragul United senior teams each came away with stirring wins. Results: State league 5: Reserves: Casey Panthers d Bunyip Strikers 7-0; Seniors: Bunyip Strikers d Casey Panthers 4-2.
