Funds for Olivia’s Place
Olivia’s Place was the successful applicant for funds from the Drouin and District Community Bank Branch at the end of June disbursals to the tune of $1640.
Since the move to the new premises at 34 Queen St, Warragul from their former Barkly Street location, communication with families had become difficult because of the double storey layout of the building and the older internet and telephone system was unsuitable to meet the organisation’s needs.
The funds provided by Drouin and District Community Bank Branch have enabled Olivia’s Place to plan and establish an improved system.
Centre manager Kirsten Finger said the new telecommunications system meant that the organisation was able to be on the phone making calls to families, whilst also receiving calls from the community for offers of donations or further requests for support from new families.
“It also means that we now have internet access throughout both floors of our building.,” she said.
“This is important because the method we use to perform safety checks on the nursery items we rehome to families (cots, prams, car restraints, highchairs and bassinets) is via an app that requires frequent updating to ensure we have the latest recall and mandatory Australian safety standards updated for these items.
“The result is a better working system for our team to support the families who access us,” she said.
