Bun­yip, Garfield in ju­nior flag de­ciders

Both Garfield and Bun­yip will have teams in next Satur­day’s West Gipp­s­land ju­nior grand fi­nals.

In low scor­ing pre­lim­i­nary fi­nals at Garfield on Satur­day Garfield won 3-11 to 2-8 against In­ver­loch-Kong­wak in the thirds but the Stars went down in the fourths to neigh­bour Bun­yip 3-9 to 3-7.

There was very lit­tle through­out both con­tests.

In the thirds Garfield kicked 2-4 to 1-3 in the fi­nal term to clinch the win.

Damion Deny­senko, Max Dy­ball, Noah Glen, Jonty Bow, Alex McMil­lan and Will Collins led the way for the Stars.

Bow, Glen and Brett Cof­fey kicked the goals.

The fourths game went down to the wire.

Bun­yip led by two points at quar­ter time, Garfield by two and four points at the next two breaks.

It came down to the fi­nal term where Bun- yip’s 1-3 to Garfield’s three be­hinds claimed the grand fi­nal spot.

Best for the win­ners were Wil­liam Pap­ley, Sage Tap­ner, Har­ri­son Booth, Joel Pope, Heath Mor­gan-Mor­ris and Wade Gray with Mor­gan-Har­ris kick­ing two of the goals and Matthew Naden­bousch the other.

Garfield’s best were Lach­lan Sauze, Thomas Fitz­patrick, Bren­dan El­liott, Ty Jack­son Miller, Zac Soutar and Bai­ley Friend.

Friend kicked two of the Stars’ goal and Oliver Wi­b­ley one.

Bun­yip will play Phillip Is­land in the fourths’ de­cider while Garfield will tackle Cora Lynn in the thirds hop­ing to re­v­erse the sec­ond semi-fi­nal re­sult.
