Top teams clash for glory

Perfect football conditions greeted the top performing teams of the Warragul and District Junior Football League for this year's grand final clash.

The three games played on the day at Drouin highlighte­d the raw talent of the squads across the age divisions; culminatin­g in tight results, scoreless quarters and lead swapping abound.

The League congratula­ted all teams who made it to the grand final, especially those who dug deepest and won.

The League thanked those parents, volunteers, sponsors and league administra­tors who made it all possible and give hundreds of children the opportunit­y to make friends, embrace comradery and play Australia's greatest game together.

The WDJFL wish all a relaxing break until the next season rolls around.

Under 10

On a mild and clear morning, the two best teams in the league's under 10 group fought out a hard last game to bring home the premiershi­p.

The game didn't disappoint with no score for the entirety of the first three quarters of play, both teams playing tense football.

Warranor made the most of a rare last quarter 50m call and scored the only point and goal for the game to win them the premiershi­p.

Under 12

It was an eagerly awaited grand final occasion between the two top sides.

The Warragul Blues jumped out with a quick start to take an early lead.

The Drouin Jets contested well all day to make a contest of it, but the Blues had most of the answers.

The Jets’ effort was fantastic, but was not reflected on the scoreboard.

In the end the Blues ran out with a good win to cap off a great year.

Under 14

Bunyip came out strong and took an early lead.

Garfield had most of the ball in the second quarter but couldn't convert in the third.

Garfield started to get outside and run hard, but Bunyip were holding on and started to gain momentum.

The Bunyip side attempted to mount a comeback, but Garfield maintained their lead until the end – taking out the trophy.

Dylan McDougal celebrated his playing milestone.
