Why should Australia follow the lead of other countries who have introduced SSM? Human beings are impressionable, mimicking creatures. That’s how western culture works.

No less does this apply in the present debate. We are Australia. Let’s not pursue the folly of other nations. Thank you Helen Case (Gaz 12/9) for highlighting the issues in Canada.

Look at other examples, eg Britain. Refer “Spectator magazine What’s changed in Britain since SSM.” Look what has happened in Massachusetts. Refer “What same-sex marriage has done to Massachusetts”. These make for sobering reading. These are not mentioned in the media so do your own research. Open your eyes Australia.

Thank you for the contributions by some on the issue of compassion (Gaz 12/9). This is important. If you want to show compassion for all peoples (not just minorities) in our community, it won’t be found in redefining marriage.

If you find there is no compassion now, it is for other reasons, not that we haven’t changed the marriage laws which have been part of the created order for millennia.

The current law of marriage is not a bad law, and has played a unique and vital role in civilisation. The future generations are what matters, and this is my concern.
