Bad experience

-

A recent West Gippsland taxi experience perhaps illustrates why Uber is having so much traction.

After arriving in Warragul from Melbourne by train I required a taxi service to my residence. As there were no taxis at the rank, I called the taxi service from the rank at the corner of Smith and Victoria Sts and after three attempts the call was answered only to be told there was no taxi stand on Victoria Street...presumably they didn't hear me say where I was. After sorting this out I was advised it would be six to 10 minutes.

Ten minutes later a taxi arrives at the rank and drops off a passenger, then asks me where I am going. I give the address to be advised “wrong way, I have a booking in five minutes" and drives off.

I wait at the rank for another 30 minutes and a taxi arrives and provides the service I was seeking.

With a 45 minute wait, early evening, West Gippsland Taxis has to improve their verbal, personal and service response or I suggest they will experience even more competition from other providers like Uber.

Ian Stacy, Warragul type more broadly adopted by the No campaign.

Voting Yes on this plebiscite isn't going to force little boys to wear dresses to school, it's not going to infringe on your freedoms of speech and it's certainly not going to have the government come to your house and take your children away because you hold a more traditional view of marriage.

I also believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion Helen, but let's focus more on the informed comment and leave the fantasy of the imaginary Orwellian pro-SSM state where it belongs, in the trash.
