Blues help homeless

-

The blues community will come together at the Trafalgar East Hall on Saturday from 2pm to present “Gippsland Blues for the Homeless”.

Featuring performers Justin Yap Band, Jesse Valach and Anna Scionti amongst others, all money raised and donated goods will help Quantum Support Services in their work assisting the homeless of Gippsland.

Michael McPherson of Half Brothers Booking said the issue had been adopted by Melbourne’s blues community and this was Gippsland’s attempt to help locals in need.

“We have nine acts that have donated their musical talents and so has all support personnel such as Amp Works the sound engineers, Trafalgar East Hall committee and the Westbury CFA, which means 100 per cent of all money raised goes to those who need it.”

Melbourne acts Charlie Bedford, Anna Scionti, Jesse Valach, Southbound Snake Charmers and the amazing Justin Yap Band have come together with local bands The 350’s, Amnesia Blues Band and The Blues Lizards for what will be a smorgasbord of live music.

This will be combined with activities, raffles and auctions of items donated by local businesses to help raise funds.

People can even bring along canned goods, toiletries and female sanitary items to be distributed amongst the homeless.

Funds raised will go to Quantum Support Services, an independent not-for-profit organisation with a 30 year history of working with Gippsland’s most vulnerable.

David Gridley from Trafalgar East Hall said the event was much needed with tough times in the Latrobe Valley at the moment and groups such as Quantum needing all the help they can get.

“We are following on from great events such as Blues For Lost Souls in Melbourne and recent fundraisers at the Bundalaguah Hall where the community gave great support for the cause,” said Mr Gridley. “We have awesome music events at Trafalgar East Hall such as The Traf East Winter Blues and this is our chance to combine a great day with an even greater cause.”

Westbury CFA will cook up a feast to feed the masses and people can even camp overnight for free.

Music starts at 2pm and goes until 11pm. Tickets are just $25 per person and available at the hall on the day.
