Drouin Lions Club will stage the annual Gippsland Garden and Home Expo this weekend.

The two day event will be held at Lardner Park on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

Drouin Lions Club president Erika Wassenberg said the club had distributed more than $350,000 back into the community and surrounding areas as a result of the expo.

“The main catering onsite is done by many other community groups. “Other Lions Clubs, Apex, primary and secondary schools, get the ability to fundraise over the weekend to distribute back to their own communities and schools.

“It is great to know that we are helping all these groups in raising funds, as well as putting on a such a huge event that our community looks forward to each year.

“We have lots of entertainment and free children`s activities this year with the help of the Drouin Secondary College Leo Club,” she said.

Drouin Lions members have organised the event for the past 17 years. The expo is now a well established event on the gardening lovers’ calendar and is the second largest of its kind in Victoria.

The expo brings thousands of visitors to the area from far and wide. Buses come from all over Victoria bringing garden and home enthusiasts for a great day out.
