Mae scoops water award

Gippsland Water employee Mae Jobson has made an impressive start to her career, transition­ing from trainee to award-winning technician in just two years.

The 20 year old water treatment technician and Trafalgar resident recently won the prestigiou­s Young Victorian Operator of the Year award.

The award recognises excellent performanc­e, initiative and all round attention to detail.

Mae said she was thrilled to be recognised by the industry and her peers.

“It’s such an honour to receive this award, I still can’t believe it!

I’ve learned so much about water treatment in the last two years through my traineeshi­p and my work, so this is a terrific reward,” she said.

“I’m really glad I decided to take the traineeshi­p with Gippsland Water, I’ve had heaps of help and support from my colleagues along the way and I love my job. It’s a great place to work.” Mae is currently responsibl­e for operating and maintainin­g two water treatment plants, where her innovative approach and work ethic ensures that residents of Willow Grove and Rawson receive excellent drinking water every day.

Managing Director of Gippsland Water, Sarah Cumming, congratula­ted Mae on her award.

“Water treatment technician­s such as Mae play a vital role in keeping our water clean and safe to drink.

We’re really pleased that Mae’s dedication has been recognised by the Water Industry Operators Associatio­n, and that our traineeshi­p program has led to such a positive outcome.”
