A field of 100 faced the starter for the October monthly medal on Saturday, which as per the usual is sponsored by a local butcher.

Played in fine and clear conditions, it was the left handed veteran George Gray whom came out victorious with a net score of 67 playing off his mark of 29.

Dave Lawler was the best for the A grade event, finishing just the one shot further back playing off a handicap of 14.

John Coutts did best for B grade with a winning score of 69 playing off his handicap of 16.

The mercurial Gus McKillop had the best scratch score for the day with a five over 74 recorded.

A final score of 72 or better was required to win a ball down the line, which was achieved by another 11 players.

Pieter Van Der Horst scored an eagle three on the par five first hole.

A field of 43 came out for a game on Thursday
